The healthcare client wanted to enhance the quality of care by real-time monitoring of data from IoT medical devices. Sparity designed IoT architecture on cloud infrastructure that is capable of carrying out real-time analysis to draw actionable insight.

The client is a US-based healthcare product company that delivers a wide range of healthcare products to hospitals, health systems and non-hospital markets, including surgery centers, home health care businesses and extended care facilities. The healthcare client aims to introduce innovative products, services, and approaches to improve personal health and quality of life. Despite the industry’s rapid transformation, the healthcare client has embraced the dynamics of the evolving industry with advanced technology, clinical expertise, and the ability to collect and analyze health and data information has enabled them to keep pace with the changing needs of the industry.


The healthcare client approached Sparity intending to analyze massive troves of unstructured patient data from wearables and other monitors devices in real-time and draw actionable insight to improve medical staff productivity, avoid routine visits, and enhance the quality of care. Furthermore, notify caregivers in case of adverse events. Sparity acted quickly and built a custom data solution on the google cloud that enabled the syncing of data captured from the IoT devices to the cloud infrastructure and carried out a real-time analysis to draw actionable insight.


The healthcare client needed a solution that can perform real-time analytics on the huge volumes of heterogeneous data from IoT applications and devices to gain value from the patients IoT device data. Furthermore, the solution needs to provide real-time monitoring of patients and automatically provide alerts and initiate a response to the healthcare professional when a health problem is detected.


Google BigQuery streaming API and DataFlow tools were configured to capture real-time event data from the health care IoT Devices.

Tableau was used to create near-real-time dashboards using health care metrics to reflect the current state of a patient.

Alerts and notifications are configured on the dashboard to notify caregivers on mobile and email in case of adverse events.

Processed data is pushed to a BigQuery to gain insights with real-time and predictive analytics and for future reference as well


Sparity’s healthcare product experts, based on initial requirements, designed IoT architecture using google cloud. Employed Dataflow to deploy batch and streaming data processing pipelines and BigQuery to store & analyze fluctuating volumes of real-time data on data from IoT applications and devices to generate actionable real-time insights that caregivers can use. Configured alerts and notifications to caregivers on mobile and email, if patient state suddenly changes.
