Alphabet's Verily, ResMed launch sleep platform Primasun to help employers & healthcare providers

One-third of American people report sleeping less than the recommended amount. Chronic diseases such as heart disease, depression, and diabetes have been related to lack of sleep. Diagnosing and treating sleep disorders can help individuals live longer and healthier lives. To overcome this challenge, Alphabet’s Verily and ResMed announced the formation of Primasun, an end-to-end solution to help healthcare providers identify populations at risk for complex sleep disorders.

The platform will initially evaluate patients with insomnia, provide guidance to improve sleep hygiene and also connect patients with certified sleep physicians who will diagnose and treat sleep apnea. Alphabet’s Verily has raised $1 billion to expand its precision-healthcare initiatives and allow for more investment in strategic partnerships and possible acquisitions. The life sciences company has also invested in the AI voice tool Syllable, biomanufacturing startup Culture Biosciences, biotech company EQRx and acquired the clinical trial management system SignalPath.
